Antrim Coast & Glens
From Larne Leisure Centre, walk along the Promenade for 1 mile until the junction with the Coast Road. Follow the footway beside the Antrim Coast Road for 2 miles through to Drains Bay car park where there is a pleasant 1 mile off–road walk leading into Carnfunnock Country Park.
Most of the Promenade is within an Area of Special Scientific Interest because of its geology. If the tide is out you would notice the distinct colour differences in the rocks. These rocks are 200 million years old and an ichthyosaur fossil that was found here is now on display in the Ulster Museum.
