The walk is 6.06 kms (3.8 miles) with an estimated target time of 1 hour. This unique walk can be accessed from Antrim Town Centre and takes in the beautiful and historic Mill Race Trail, following the Six Mile River with markers and information posts revealing the river’s industrial past and hidden wildlife. Leaving the Mill Race Trail behind this walk continues in a loop along the main road returning to Antrim Town.
The total route is 6.6 km (3.8 miles) and each km is clearly marked throughout the route. The walk can be accessed from High Street via Riverside, Kirby’s Lane car park, Oldstone Road and from the Belmont Road. This route can be walked in either direction, returning you to the point you started from.

Point of Interest
Six Mile Water and Historic Mill Race Trail
A mapboard is available at start of route. Starting at Riverside follow riverpath using Highway to Health markers at every 0.5 kms. At end of river pathway turn left onto Oldstone Road, follow path under railway bridge and turn left onto Belfast Road. Walk short distance and cross onto Belmont Road at roundabout (2nd exit). Continue to walk along Belmont Road, past cemetery and Greenvale estate on right hand side of road. Cross road at Cunningham Way and at this side of the road a slipway back onto the riverside path can be accessed. Follow path and turn right to bring you back to beginning of route.
Getting to the Start
From M2 North follow signs for Antrim and Exit at Dunsilly Roundabout A26 (signposted Ballymena/Antrim) onto Dunsilly Road. Follow road going straight ahead through 3 mini roundabouts. At 4th roundabout go straight ahead onto the Dublin Road. At Dublin Road taffic lights turn left onto Castle Way and then right at 1st roundabout onto Station Road. Follow road to end and cross onto Riverside (note Highway to Health signage on right and church on left). This walk can be accessed from path at bottom of Riverside.
Picnic table, rubbish bins, dog foul bins and education panels available on riverside walk. Car parking available at Kirby’s Lane car park and limited parking available at Riverside. Refreshments and public toilets can be accessed in Antrim town centre.
