Taking Care

Taking Care programme  - Staying at Home

In 2019 we piloted our new Taking Care Programme, which is based on our Taking Control Programme for people who have had a stroke, but tailored specifically for carers. We also established a weekly/fortnightly support group to provide information, education and support for those caring for someone following a stroke.

We’ve now adapted our Taking Care Programme to support local carers during COVID-19, with the service launching in the autumn of 2020. Participants will learn how to better manage their role as carer and look after their loved one while also looking after themselves.

NB Initially launching in the Belfast and South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust area, the aim is to roll the service out across all Health & Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland.

Great to know someone is out there for both me and my husband…… Life is good when you know someone is there for you.
