Primary Schools' Red Dress Fun Run Competition 2025
Supported by
Our exciting primary schools’ competition will put the fun into FUNdraising for your pupils and staff this spring term!
As part of our wider campaign during ‘National Heart Month’ we are asking you to join us for the most heartwarming event of the year – our annual RED DRESS FUN RUN – to help raise vital funds towards our work fighting chest, heart and stroke illnesses in Northern Ireland.
It’s easy to get involved. On any date in February or March 2025 why not host your own Red Dress Fun Day for pupils and staff in support NI Chest Heart & Stroke. Simply wear something red, or with hearts, and get active against heart disease as you have fun while you run, walk, skip, hop, dance or wheel. Tell a joke, sing a silly song, make a conga line… do whatever makes everyone smile while they have a laugh raising cash for a great cause.
If your school already participates in the Daily Mile, why not have a heart and dedicate a Daily Mile to NICHS ? Every school that takes part will receive a fantastic fundraising pack , a big NICHS presentation cheque to show how much they have raised, a 'You have made a difference' certificate of thanks and a fun-filled video with some celebrity ambassadors from the world of sport and comedy to watch before your run!
Plus! Every school that signs up will be entered into our awesome prize draw to win a £250 voucher for Podium4Sport!
There are also two runner up vouchers of £75 up for grabs, plus each winning school will receive an online Heartley’s Heroes’ Talk delivered by our Schools’ Health Promotion Team!
Suggested fundraising target £1 per participating pupil.
Competition T&Cs can be found here
FACT! Coronary heart disease is the biggest single cause of premature death (under the age of 75) across NI and sadly we all know a family who have lost a loved one to this terrible condition. Please help us continue to keep changing and saving lives.

Our staff and pupils of St. Colman’s Bann were delighted to take part in NICHS's Red Dress Fun Run .Everyone loved dressing in red, running, dancing, exercising, tasting red foods and making a selection of heart crafts. We also talked about why we should look after our heart health. We really had a Happy Heart Day.

The fun run last Friday was a great wee day! All the pupils took part and we raised about £120. The kids + staff all wore red, we were all really impressed! It's in our local newspaper too (Ballymena Guardian). The video was amazing, thank you very much!! It was watched quite a few times! And was very useful the day before too, to get the pupils excited and see how important the event was. Thanks again for a brilliant event and for letting us be part of it!
Alastair Beacom, Principal, Dunclug PS, Ballymena.
