At Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke, we offer a wide range of professional support services for people at risk of and living with chest, heart and stroke conditions. We work with people of all ages throughout Northern Ireland, along with their family and/or carers.

We understand the huge impact that living with a chest, heart or stroke illness can have on you and on your loved ones.

Whatever your situation, you can rest assured that NICHS is still on hand to help you – every step of the way.

Stories From People We've Helped

Philip's Story

Philip Annett, 49 from Portadown, was in the middle of a short career break from his work, which often saw him travelling across the world to destinations including the Philippines and South Korea, when he had a sudden stroke on the 22nd of October 2022.

Jolene's Story

Jolene McAdam from Armagh was an ordinary, busy mum to three kids under seven when life as she knew it was turned upside down by a sudden stroke, aged just 34. “I was working away, a mum, perfectly healthy, and then boom - a stroke out of the blue.”

Linda's Story

Linda Crooks from Belfast had a life-changing stroke in 2020 aged only 62. "The day Tracy, a Care Co-ordinator from Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke first phoned me, I could barely speak to her as I was in floods of tears. Tracy said, “Come along to our PREP class on Thursday and see if it helps.” So, I did, and Allen came along too, and I am so glad we did."

Craig's Story

After getting help from NICHS following a stroke in 2019, determined Craig has taken on the challenge to walk 50km in a week ahead of his 50th Birthday, to raise money for our work.
