How does the chance of winning £2000, while at the same time helping to transform the lives of local people living with a chest, heart, or stroke illness sound?
Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke (NICHS), along with long-term charity partner MACE, is launching its 2022 Spring Raffle which is better than ever before.
“We are delighted to be launching our Spring Raffle which runs until 30th April. There are three fabulous cash prizes to be won - £2000, £1000 and £500! These prizes are tax-free so would be a lovely sum to see going straight into your bank account. As a raffle restricted to Northern Ireland only, you are in with a greater chance of winning but be quick, tickets are only on sale for three weeks so make sure you don’t miss out!” explains Steph Ellis, Corporate Fundraiser at the charity.
“Currently, over 335,000 people across Northern Ireland are living with chest, heart or stroke conditions - that’s almost 1 in 5 of us. 90% of our care and prevention services and research projects are funded exclusively by donations from the public. The funds raised from the Spring Raffle will help us continue to deliver life-changing programmes and support local people affected by chest, heart and stroke illnesses to rebuild their lives.”
Tracy Dennison from Banbridge is supporting this year’s raffle as she knows first-hand the difference NICHS’s programmes can make. Tracy was only 52 when she suffered a devastating stroke in April 2021, during the pandemic. In the aftermath of her stroke, Tracy was afraid to be alone, her speech was affected, and she experienced left-sided weakness and debilitating fatigue.
Tracy attended the charity’s PREP (Post Rehab Exercise Programme) and Taking Control meetings online and says; “The support from Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke has been brilliant. Everyone is so pleasant and there is always someone there to talk to. I would say to anyone who has had a stroke, go along to the meetings. After a stroke, some things are difficult, but thanks to NICHS, I’ve learned that you can overcome them. I would recommend their support to everyone.”
Mary Cassidy from MACE says; “We are delighted to support the Spring Raffle and are asking our customers to support NICHS by popping into their local MACE store from 11th April to buy a raffle ticket. The tickets cost just £1 and you could be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes. We are very grateful for the ongoing generosity of MACE customers who, over the years, have helped make a real difference to the lives of thousands of people affected by chest, heart or stroke related illnesses. In the past year alone, staff and customers from MACE stores across Northern Ireland have raised a staggering total of £40,578 for the charity and we look forward to raising more vital funds through the raffle.”
