Mace, part of the Musgrave Retail Group; has donated a total of £39k to leading local health charity Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke (NICHS) in the first year of a three year partnership.
The funds were raised by Mace retailers regionally, along with Musgrave head office staff, taking part in a variety of activities including static in-store cycles, customer donations and staff participation in the charity’s Red Dress Run.
In the region of 1500 local people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions will be helped as a result of this fundraising. The funds raised will enable attendance at local NICHS support groups; educate people about signs and symptoms of these conditions, and help fund the charity’s family support service in hospitals and in homes across Northern Ireland.
Mace regional manger Alistair Patterson, said “We are delighted to have raised £39,000 in our first year. Mace staff have really put their heart into the fundraising and we’ll be recognising the top fundraising store next month at an annual awards event. It is great that this money is used all across Northern Ireland and will support so many families who are faced with these conditions as we all know someone who is affected.”
NICHS Chief Executive, Declan Cunnane, said, “As a local charity NICHS needs to raise over £3m annually for the care and prevention of chest, heart and stroke conditions. Mace is our charity’s largest corporate supporter and it’s fantastic that as a result we can reach out and help so many people. Thank you to everyone who has supported this partnership including the retailers, customers and head office staff. We are looking forward to more events in the coming year and of course raising awareness about the signs and symptoms of chest, heart and stroke illnesses.”
