MACE stores across Northern Ireland are looking forward to raising funds for their charity partner Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke (NICHS) when they hold their A-MACE-ing Donate Day event this Friday (18th August).

Mary Cassidy, MACE Assistant Brand Manager, explains; “MACE began working with Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke in 2016 and since then our partnership has gone from strength to strength.”

“A-MACE-ing Donate Day was inspired by our support of the charity’s recent blood pressure awareness campaign. During the campaign, 359 free blood pressure checks were carried out by NICHS’s Health Promotion team at MACE stores throughout Northern Ireland. The feedback from customers who availed of the free pop- up checks was extremely positive.”

“We want to raise funds to help NICHS provide more of these potentially lifesaving checks in the future. This A-MACE-ing Donate Day we are asking customers if they can donate £2 to support the charity’s amazing work. A blood pressure check costs just £10 to provide but could help save a life – that’s priceless.”

Jackie Trainor, Director of Income Generation at Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke adds; “We are so grateful for the ongoing support and generosity of MACE, their staff and customers who, over the years, have ensured that thousands of people affected by chest, heart or stroke related conditions have received the support and care that they deserve.”

“We are delighted so many MACE stores are supporting us this A-MACE-ing Donate Day. Nearly 90% of our care and prevention services and research are funded exclusively by donations from the public so fundraising efforts like this are crucial to the work we do.”

“MACE’s support of our blood pressure awareness campaign earlier this year was fantastic. It helped us deliver our message around the importance of knowing your blood pressure numbers and the risk of heart attack and stroke associated with undetected high blood pressure to many people throughout Northern Ireland. 161 people were signposted to their GP after availing of the pop-up blood pressure checks in MACE stores and it is amazing to think lives have potentially been saved because of this. The fund raised this A-MACE-ing Donate Day will help ensure we can continue to provide these free, vital checks to communities throughout Northern Ireland.”
