PPI Rep/ Medical Physicist
Ms Haughey is both a medical physicist by profession and part time carer for her parents who suffer from multiple conditions including stroke, lung disease and heart failure. She has seen the impact and struggle of living with these conditions over many years and how they can drastically reduce quality of life. Experiencing this and as a scientist herself makes her passionate about supporting progressive research to both prevent these conditions and if possible improve the quality of life for those living with them. She feels that the chest heart and stroke research committee provides generous funding for research in NI that offers real potential to improve the lives of our population and being involved is not only a highly rewarding experience for her but also gives hope for improved outcomes for future generations.
