In 2023, NICHS launched Halls of Hope in hospital stroke wards across NI to inspire and support stroke patients and their families. Featuring stories from Hope Heroes—stroke survivors helped by NICHS—the halls offer encouragement and show there is hope after stroke, informing patients & their families of support available from NICHS, & guiding them on their recovery journey beyond the hospital.

Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke (NICHS) is calling for the age of sale for vapes to be increased to 21. The charity was commenting following the Assembly’s Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Committee approval of a ban on selling disposable vapes.

When Kurtis sadly passed away, his colleagues wanted to do something to create a positive legacy for their friend. They restarted the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service Football Club, which had disbanded in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in Kurtis’ memory and decided to support Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke (NICHS) as their charity partner.

We currently have £1.2 million invested in live research, and last year, your donations made it possible for us to fund four new studies looking at improving stroke recovery, establishing new treatments for respiratory illness, and supporting families affected by Congenital Heart Disease.
