Staff at local accountancy and advisory firm, BDO Northern Ireland recently celebrated raising over £20,000 for Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke (NICHS) at a Saint Patrick’s Day themed fundraiser which marked the end of their two-year corporate partnership with the charity. Funds raised through the partnership will go towards supporting the up to 470,000 people living with a chest, heart or stroke condition in Northern Ireland.

Over the past two years, members of staff from across all departments at BDO NI have organised a variety of fundraising challenges and activities in support of NICHS including entering teams into the Belfast City Marathon and Half Marathon, Christmas Jolly Jumper days, taking part in Business Fives football tournaments, and hosting a pre-loved fashion market at Trademarket, Belfast. The team have also taken part in some of the charity’s events such as their annual Red Dress Fun Run, Santa Abseil, Twilight Hearty Hike to the summit of Slieve Binnian, and Heartfelt Morning Breaks.

Partner and Head of the BDO NI CSR Committee, Maybeth Shaw, commented: “It is said that it's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving. This couldn’t be truer for our staff and how they have responded to fundraising for Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke over the last 2 years.”

“With many personal stories within our firm of how this charity has helped and supported family members, we are delighted to have been able to raise over £20,000 for their vital services to help people across the country.”

Nadia Duncan, Donor Development Manager at NICHS, said; “We are very thankful to have been BDO NI’s charity partner for the past two years. The dedication and effort shown by all the team at BDO NI has been phenomenal. To raise over £20,000 for our charity is a tremendous achievement and we would like to thank everyone involved and all those who donated.”

“Today, up to one in three of the population here are living with a chest, heart or stroke condition. Almost 90% of our income comes from public donations so partnerships and fundraising efforts like BDO NI’s are vital for our charity and what we can achieve.”

“The funds raised by BDO NI will enable us to continue to help the local community and provide life-changing services for people living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and their families.”
