Members of staff from Craigavon based logistics and transport business Manfreight took part in Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke’s (NICHS) Red Dress Fun Run 2022, raising a fantastic £1000 for the leading local health charity.

The Red Dress Fun Run is a five kilometre run or walk event which aims to raise funds and awareness for heart disease. A team of twenty Manfreight employees joined over 500 other participants at the event at Stormont Estate on Sunday 27th February.

Manfreight’s previous work with NICHS influenced their decision to take part in the fun run and fundraise for the charity. Nick McCullough from Manfreight explains; “Last year we were concerned about the toll that the pandemic and Brexit were taking on both the physical and mental health of our employees. We wanted to make a positive change and put staff health first, so we signed up to Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke’s Work Well Live Well programme.”

“As part of the programme, NICHS supported us with carrying out a health and wellbeing survey, developing a bespoke, 3-year action plan for our team as well as providing access to training, webinars, resources and networking opportunities. Work Well Live Well has made a real difference to the health and wellbeing of the Manfreight team and we wanted to do something to support the charity with their work. That’s where the idea of taking part in the Red Dress Fun Run came from. We are delighted to have raised these funds for NICHS, so they can continue to support the thousands of local people who need them.”

Emma McCrudden, Work Well Live Well Programme Manager adds; “We are very thankful for this wonderful donation from the Red Dress Fun Run team at Manfreight. Today, there are over 335,000 people living with a chest, heart or stroke condition in Northern Ireland - that's one in five of the population. Almost 90% of our care, prevention and research services are funded exclusively by public donations. Fundraising efforts like Manfreight’s are vital in enabling us to continue to support the local community and provide life-changing services for people living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and their families.”

“Work Well Live Well is a free workplace health and wellbeing support programme delivered by our team and funded by the Public Health Agency. The aim of Work Well Live Well is to help local workplaces to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees through personalised support. Manfreight is a great example of how successful participation in the Work Well Live Well programme can be. We are now recruiting new workplaces to take part in the programme and would encourage workplaces of all types and sizes to get in touch to find out how Work Well Live Well can help them.”
